Masaka Chief Magistrate Abert Asiimwe has officially declared NRM’s Justine Nameere the duly elected Woman Member of Parliament for Masaka City after a court-ordered vote recount concluded at the Masaka City Electoral Commission offices.

According to the final results contained in a court document issued after the exercise, Nameere emerged on top with 25,502 votes. She was followed by National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Rose Nalubowa, who secured 23,176 votes. Juliet Nakabuye Kakande of the Democratic Front (DF) came in third with 6,136 votes, while independent contender Nanyonga Sauya received 5,921 votes.
The recount, which lasted three days, was conducted after an application was filed in the Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court. It involved a fresh tally of ballots cast during the January 15, 2026 parliamentary elections.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Asiimwe signed a certificate of vote recount formally returning Nameere as the winner of the Masaka City Woman MP seat. The decision effectively overturned an earlier declaration that had given victory to the opposition NUP candidate.

Asiimwe also noted that during the recount process, more than five ballot boxes were found to show signs of possible tampering, a factor that weighed into the court’s final determination.
The certificate, signed on Sunday, brings the legal process to a close and confirms Justine Nameere as the duly elected representative for Masaka City.
