TikToker Ibrahim Musana, popularly known as Pressure 24/7, has been remanded to Luzira Prison after appearing before the City Hall Magistrates Court on charges related to hate speech and unlawful processing of personal data.

Musana was on Wednesday arraigned before the court and charged with two offences, including unlawful obtaining of personal data contrary to Section 35 (1) and (2) of the Data Protection and Privacy Act, Cap 97, and hate speech contrary to Section 26(1)(a) and (2) of the Computer Misuse Act, Cap 96.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on March 5 at Asante Apartments in Kyanja, Nakawa Division, Kampala District. Prosecutors told court that Musana allegedly obtained and processed personal data belonging to Muhoozi Kainerugaba without the general’s consent. The data reportedly included a photograph and the name of the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.

Court further heard that on the same day, Musana allegedly used his TikTok account ‘@pressure247’ to share information about Gen. Muhoozi, claiming that he was not fit to hold the office of Chief of Defence Forces. Prosecution argues that the statements were likely to ridicule, degrade, or demean the senior military officer.

However, Musana denied the charges when they were read to him in court.

State prosecutors informed the court that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

Trial Senior Grade One Magistrate Edgar Karakire ordered that the TikToker be remanded to Luzira Prison until March 26, when he is expected to return to court for further proceedings.
