• Rickman plans to retire from music in 2028 after 10 years
  • He aims to pursue a career in football coaching
  • Multiple albums are planned before his official exit

Ugandan singer Rickman Manrick has revealed plans to retire from the music industry in 2028, marking what he says will be both his 10-year milestone and final chapter in music. Speaking during a recent TV appearance, the “Baliwanika” hitmaker shared that he intends to hold his first—and last—concert that same year before stepping away for good.

Rickman explained that his decision is driven by a long-standing passion for football, which he now hopes to pursue professionally through coaching. He admitted that balancing both careers would be unrealistic.

“I can’t juggle music and football coaching. Time wouldn’t allow it, and the image wouldn’t be right either,” he said.

“2028 will be 10 years for me. I want to celebrate that with one big concert and then move on.”

To prepare fans for his exit, Rickman says he will increase his musical output, planning to release multiple albums—each with about 15 songs—over the coming years. This, he believes, will leave a rich catalog for fans even after his departure.

He also revealed that sports runs deep in his family. His father was a football coach, while his mother made her mark as a respected netball coach. Rickman himself once pursued football seriously before an ACL injury in 2017 cut that dream short.

Now, he hopes to return to the game from the sidelines, guiding others where he once aspired to play.
