  • She distanced herself after seeing religion create division and debates.

Songbird star Azawi has surprised many after candidly opening up about her personal beliefs and relationship with religion. The Quinamino singer revealed that she no longer fully identifies with any particular religion, saying she now follows values she believes matter more in everyday life.

Speaking about her spiritual journey, Azawi explained that she considers herself “too woke” to be wholeheartedly tied to one religious institution. Instead, she said her true religion is rooted in kindness, empathy, harmony, and sacrifice—principles she believes unite people rather than divide them.

“My religion is kindness, empathy, harmony and sacrifice.”

The Swangz Avenue star noted that over the years, she has watched religion become a source of division, with many people constantly debating whose God is greater. According to her, these endless disagreements pushed her away from becoming a staunch religious fanatic.

“I have seen religion tear people apart instead of bringing them together.”

Despite distancing herself from strict religious affiliation, Azawi made it clear that she still respects religion and acknowledges the positive role it plays in society. She praised religious leaders and institutions that genuinely help communities, restore sanity, and offer hope to people going through difficult times.

Interestingly, the singer said she believes musicians also play a similar role by giving people hope through their art and messages.

Azawi also shared that she was born into a Protestant family but later transitioned into Catholicism while growing up with her mother. Even so, she admitted she still occasionally goes to church, mainly for the feeling of worshipping alongside others and reconnecting with the nostalgia of her upbringing, though she no longer considers herself deeply committed to church life.
