Reggae dancehall singer A Pass has once again stirred debate after boldly insisting he would still outshine Uganda’s legendary “big three” — Bobi Wine, Bebe Cool, and Jose Chameleone — even if he had emerged during their golden era. His latest remarks echo similar claims he made previously about being musically superior to the icons.

Speaking during an interview with Shalom Kawesi and Frank Ntambi, the Wuyo hitmaker argued that artists of the older generation had it easier because they performed for audiences who were still developing a deeper understanding of music. According to him, the technical demands, vocal versatility, and lyrical expectations of that time were far lower than what modern artists face today.

“They were singing for a generation that had not yet fully understood music.”

A Pass maintained that his strength lies in being able to bridge generations effortlessly. He pointed to songs like Wuuyo, Buwooma, and Mariana as proof that he can comfortably create both contemporary urban music and timeless melodies that resonate with older listeners.

The singer added that many critics who dismiss his confidence often do so without actually listening to his catalogue.
