A passionate Arsenal supporter, Rickman said the achievement carries deep personal meaning for him. He recalled last witnessing Arsenal lift the league title during the unforgettable 2003/04 “Invincibles” campaign when he was only six or seven years old.
Since then, he says, the wait for another title has tested fans’ patience but never their loyalty.
“I last saw Arsenal lift the trophy when I was still a young boy. Since then, it has been a long journey, but we kept believing,” Rickman said.
The singer jokingly added that the emotions could become overwhelming once celebrations begin.
“If people in London find me sleeping on the streets, they should just let me be. That will be too much joy speaking,” he said with laughter.
Rickman also praised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, saying the club’s faith in the Spanish tactician should serve as a lesson to rival teams. According to him, Arteta arrived in 2019 and faced years of criticism and pressure, yet the club trusted the process and remained patient.
Away from football, Rickman said he is proud of how far he has come in entertainment. Having built a successful music career, he now considers himself a certified star after branching into film acting. He urged Ugandans to support local cinema and watch his latest movie, which is set to premiere on May 25.
The singer further revealed that he feels fulfilled with his accomplishments, noting that he also enjoyed success in football earlier in life.
On personal matters, Rickman shared that his girlfriend, Gia Nina is pursuing a career in DJing, a decision he fully supports although he had earlier advised her against it. He also dismissed suggestions that he was the ex-boyfriend Sheila Gashumba recently referenced in her public remarks of using a boda.
