Veteran Ugandan singer Grace Nakimera has revealed that she would gladly take on fellow musician Cindy Sanyu in a music battle if an interested sponsor stepped forward to finance the showdown.

Speaking during a podcast interview with Zubedah, Nakimera was asked whether she would be willing to stand on stage and face the self-proclaimed “King Herself” in a musical duel. Without hesitation, the celebrated gospel and secular music star said she would be more than ready for the challenge.

According to Nakimera, a battle between her and Cindy would rank among the greatest musical contests Uganda has ever seen, provided it remains focused on music rather than personal attacks and exchanges of insults.

“If it is a battle of music and not words, it would be one of the best battles in the history of Uganda’s music industry.”

The “Onyamba” singer further suggested that Cindy herself would likely enjoy such a contest more than many of the battles she has previously been linked to, given the depth of experience and catalogue both artists possess.

Nakimera believes she has enough quality music to hold her own against the Boom Party singer, noting that she has recorded more than 50 songs over the course of her career, in addition to several unreleased projects.

“I have the catalogue. I can go song for song with Cindy and give fans a real contest.”

However, she was careful not to predict victory, saying that overconfidence before a battle can sometimes backfire. While she believes she has what it takes to compete at the highest level, she stopped short of claiming she would easily defeat Cindy.

Nakimera also made it clear that nothing would prevent her from stepping onto the stage, not even her pastor husband.

“This is music; it is my job,” she explained, comparing it to any other profession.

When asked which Cindy song she would perform if required to sing one of her rival’s tracks, Nakimera picked the fan-favorite “Ayokya Yokya.”

Once among Uganda’s most dominant female artists, Nakimera stepped away from the limelight for nearly 15 years to focus on personal growth and family life. With her recent return to active music, fans can only wait and see whether this dream battle with Cindy Sanyu will ever become a reality.
