Veteran Ugandan dancehall star King Michael has dismissed claims that his recently concluded concert at Kampala Serena Hotel would flop, describing the event as a resounding success.

Speaking after the show, King Michael said those who predicted failure have been left embarrassed after the concert attracted a strong turnout. He explained that his team deliberately focused on selling premium tables priced at UGX 3 million rather than chasing large numbers of ordinary tickets, a strategy he says paid off.

“The concert was a success. Those who thought it would flop have been humiliated because we achieved exactly what we planned,” King Michael said.

The singer also addressed why he opted to stage the concert in the Serena Hotel gardens instead of the ballroom. According to him, ongoing construction works at the hotel would have forced guests to walk long distances from the parking area to the ballroom, something he felt would inconvenience fans who had paid premium prices.

King Michael estimated that about 500 people attended the event, insisting the atmosphere and response from fans exceeded expectations.

Looking ahead, the Muko Muko hitmaker revealed that he will take the show to different parts of Uganda before taking a short holiday in Zanzibar. He also confirmed plans to travel to Canada after the local tour, saying he deserves a break following months of preparations.

“Time wasn’t enough to perform every song. Some fans were still waiting for their favorites, but we’ll make up for that during the upcoming shows around the country,” he said.

The singer also responded to concerns raised by producer Producer Didi, popularly known as O.S. Suna, over not being recognized during the concert. King Michael acknowledged the producer’s immense contribution to his music career, alongside other producers including Washington and Selecta David, but explained that time constraints prevented him from recognizing everyone on stage.

He stressed that the omission was never intentional and expressed gratitude to all the producers who have played a role in shaping his musical journey.
