  • Betty Nambooze has applauded Sheebah Karungi for publicly sharing her painful post-birth health complications.
  • Sheebah revealed on her podcast that she underwent surgery after childbirth and that the ordeal also affected her performances.
  • Nambooze says the singer’s honesty will help raise awareness and encourage more women facing postpartum complications to speak out.

Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze has praised singer Sheebah Karungi for openly speaking about the serious health complications she suffered after giving birth, saying her honesty could help many women who silently endure similar experiences.

Sheebah recently opened up on her podcast, Let’s Talk About It, where she emotionally recounted the trauma she went through after welcoming her son, Amir. The singer revealed that she developed post-birth complications that required surgery and a difficult recovery period, an ordeal she says also affected her work and performances.

Nambooze said Sheebah’s decision to speak publicly about such a deeply personal matter was both brave and important, especially in a society where many women suffer postpartum complications in silence for fear of stigma, shame or not being understood. According to the legislator, when a high-profile woman like Sheebah shares her experience, it gives courage to others to speak up, seek help and know they are not alone.

“What Sheebah has done is commendable because many women go through postpartum health complications but have no voice and are afraid to speak. When a public figure speaks out, it gives others hope and helps create awareness around these issues,” Nambooze said.

Sheebah also used her platform to clear up public speculation surrounding her changing body shape after childbirth. For months, some critics had claimed the singer had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), but she dismissed the rumours and explained that the physical changes were linked to childbirth and the complications that followed.

“My complication had nothing to do with my age. Pelvic birth injuries can happen to women of any age… I shared my experience to raise awareness, not to blame anyone or spread fear,” Sheebah explained.

Her revelation has since sparked wider conversation about maternal health, recovery after childbirth and the importance of women being informed, supported and listened to throughout the birthing process.
