  • Zari Hassan questioned why many men now spend their time discussing women on media platforms.
  • She said she was surprised by the shift, arguing that gossip was traditionally associated with women.
  • The businesswoman urged men to focus on more meaningful pursuits instead.

Socialite Zari Hassan has come out to question when men started making women the centre of their conversations, saying she is shocked by the growing trend on social media and television.

Speaking in a video shared online, Zari wondered when the “tables turned,” noting that for generations women were often stereotyped as the ones who loved gossip.

“I love talking and understanding how things work, but when did the tables turn?” she asked.

According to the mother of five, she is increasingly seeing groups of men sitting together on podcasts, talk shows and social media platforms discussing women as though it has become a profession.

“There are a bunch of useless men sitting around a table and their discussion is a woman. Someone tell me, where have I been? What happened to men being men?” she said.

Zari expressed disbelief that some men now dedicate entire shows to commenting on women’s lives, relationships and personal choices.

“Their job is to get on a social media platform or a TV platform, and their job is to discuss women,” she said. “You’re a whole grown man and your life revolves around talking about women.”

The Ugandan-born businesswoman sarcastically referred to such men as “Cinder fellas,” saying she does not understand how discussing women has become a career for some.

She also urged women to pay attention to the character of the men around them.

“See your husband. That’s your husband right there. That’s your brother. That’s how he puts food on the table—discussing women,” Zari remarked.

Her comments have since sparked conversation online, with some agreeing that many male content creators have built audiences by analysing women’s lives, while others argued that both men and women frequently discuss each other on public platforms.
