Radio Simba presenter Omulangira Ndausi has set social media abuzz after claiming he has not stepped into Kampala’s Central Business District (CBD) for approximately 27 years.

Speaking during a podcast hosted by Flavia Namulindwa, Ndausi was asked when he last visited the heart of Uganda’s capital. In response, he said his last trip to the city centre was nearly three decades ago when someone had invited him to meet them and collect some money.

The veteran media personality explained that his daily life no longer requires him to travel into downtown Kampala. According to Ndausi, he lives in Ntinda and works in Bukoto, where he says all the essential services he needs—including banks, telecommunications offices, supermarkets and other businesses—are readily available.

“The last time I went to Kampala was about 27 years ago. Everything I need is around Ntinda and Bukoto, so I have no reason to go there.”

He added that while he is aware Kampala has changed significantly over the years, he no longer knows the city’s layout well enough to confidently navigate it.

Ndausi also suggested that his popularity makes visits to the city centre impractical, saying they would likely attract large crowds and unnecessary attention, making him uncomfortable.

During the same conversation, he revealed that he has never ridden on a boda boda. He clarified that this is not because he dislikes motorcycles, but simply because he has always had alternative means of transport and has never found himself needing one.

However, his remarks have been met with scepticism from some social media users, who accused the presenter of exaggerating his claims. Several netizens alleged they had previously seen him in downtown Kampala, particularly around Nakivubo, with others insisting his account could not be accurate.
