  • Vinka believes good songs can have more longevity than short-lived hits.
  • She praised Rema Namakula and Daxx Vibes’ “Onzise” as an example of music that grows on listeners over time.
  • She says artists can still survive without hit songs as long as they consistently make good music.

Ugandan singer Vinka says she is not pressured to constantly produce hit songs, explaining that her priority is making good music that can stand the test of time.

The singer believes some songs become huge hits but quickly disappear, while other well-made songs continue to be enjoyed years after their release.

“Sometimes there are hit songs that disappear after one year, and yet there are good songs that are going to be played forever,” she said.

Vinka pointed to Rema Namakula and Daxx Vibes’ current song, “Onzise,” as an example of the kind of music she appreciates. She described the song as beautiful, noting that some songs do not necessarily become instant hits but gradually grow on listeners.

“I think it’s good to have many good songs than hit songs,” she said, adding that having two good songs can be just as valuable as having one hit song.

According to Vinka, an artist’s career does not have to depend entirely on having a chart-topping song. She believes musicians can continue to survive and build lasting careers by consistently releasing quality music.

Drawing from her own experience, Vinka revealed that there have been periods when she did not have major hits like “All Over You” and “Bailando,” but she still remained comfortable and continued with her career.
