- Gashumba says Malaika is his only officially recognised wife.
- He links his decision to concerns over family and property disputes.
- He says his father’s experience with multiple wives shaped his decision.
Self-styled businessman and social commentator Frank Gashumba has publicly declared that Malaika is his only wife, saying he wants to eliminate any future confusion over his marital status, children and property.

Gashumba said he officially married Malaika and that she knows his children and everything about his life. He therefore warned that, decades from now, no one should come forward claiming to have been his wife or to have had a relationship with him.
“30 years from now, nobody should come out and say they were my wife. It is on public record that Malaika is my wife.”
Gashumba acknowledged that he dated other women before marrying Malaika but said those relationships ended, arguing that he gave the women what they deserved during the periods they were together.

He explained that his decision was largely motivated by the disputes that can emerge over property and family after a person’s death. He cited the recent death of veteran entertainer Alex Mukulu, claiming that disagreements among members of Mukulu’s family had emerged within days of his death.
“I don’t want to die and leave people fighting over my property because of confusion over who is my wife.”
Gashumba also attributed his position to advice from his father, who he said once took him on a road trip and warned him against marrying more than one woman.
According to Gashumba, his father had experienced the difficulties associated with having multiple wives and urged him not to repeat the same mistakes.
Gashumba said he took the advice seriously and has never considered having more than one wife, insisting that Malaika remains his sole officially recognised spouse.
