Pia says she felt an immediate sense of belonging upon arriving in America, describing the experience as discovering a part of herself that had been waiting to emerge.

“It felt like home. It felt like I belonged. As if some version of me had been locked away all my life waiting for me to be here,” she said.

The musician explained that she had struggled with writer’s block for about two years, during which she found it difficult to write songs or sing, leaving her motivation for music at an all-time low.

Determined to regain her creative spark, Pia challenged herself to learn a new instrument and practise every day. She said it took about three months before she began to feel creatively renewed.

“My writer’s block vanished. I just felt so free,” she said, revealing that she now has an album that is almost ready, featuring what she described as world-class production.

Pia added that her ambition is to improve her music, fashion, presentation and overall brand while representing Uganda on the international stage.

Pia’s move marks a new chapter in her career as she seeks to rebuild her creative momentum and expand her music beyond Uganda’s borders.
