Singer Sheebah Karungi has urged fans, bloggers, and media personalities to be more cautious about how they portray artists, especially when they encounter them in person.

Speaking on The Let’s Talk About It podcast, Sheebah noted that people often use their phones to record artists from their own perspective, with some clips later being posted online simply to generate views and grow social media pages.
“This covers not just the fans, but also bloggers and people who bring out their phones to record around artists,” she said, adding that some people capture moments they believe will attract attention without considering how the content could affect the artist.
“We don’t even know how you’re paid. You might not be paid at all but you just want to be liked and to grow your pages and we understand that,” she said.

Sheebah explained that some artists have spent more than a decade carefully building their brands, only for a short video or misleading portrayal to potentially damage what they have worked so hard to establish.
“When we build up something, it doesn’t mean that we are angels and neither are we perfect,” she said, acknowledging that artists, just like everyone else, have their flaws.
However, she stressed that sharing a particular perspective without giving the artist an opportunity to explain themselves can be unfair.
“You’re messing up with a brand that I’ve been building all my life and sometimes I can’t even find you to explain that to you,” she concluded.
