Ugandan businesswoman and socialite Zari Hassan has responded to criticism from fellow Ugandan personality Jennifer Nakanguubi, popularly known as Full Figure, over claims that she does little to help people despite her wealth.

Full Figure recently questioned Zari’s charitable activities, suggesting that beyond her beauty, there was little known about her contribution to helping the less privileged. She also cast doubt on Zari’s wealth and questioned why she does not publicly showcase more charitable work.
In a calm response, Zari said charity should come from the heart rather than from a desire to be seen on camera.
“Just because I don’t come out on camera to show what I do doesn’t mean I don’t help people.”

Zari said she has supported numerous people over the years and continues to do so. She pointed to her work with children in South Africa, including her foundation, which currently supports children and communities through education, food, clothing and other forms of assistance.
She also said she supports children in Uganda by paying school fees, arguing that much of this assistance happens privately.
“Helping is not something that should be done for the camera.”
Zari added that she understands that some people will always attack her, but urged others to respect people, their brands and their work.
Her response comes amid renewed attention to her philanthropic activities. Zari’s foundation publicly identifies her as its founder and says its work focuses on practical support for children and communities in South Africa.
