Miss Uganda 2026/27, Almorie Sophia Nagayi, has revealed that she made her first million shillings at the age of 10, highlighting her early exposure to financial independence and entrepreneurship.

“I want to see a Uganda where women are fully skilled and able to work for themselves,” she said.

Nagayi pointed out that unemployment among young women remains a concern, alongside what she described as a high rate of sex work. She believes that equipping women with practical skills could create more opportunities for them to earn a living independently.

She further noted that everyone is gifted differently and that people can turn their natural talents into sources of income rather than relying solely on conventional employment.

According to her, this does not mean that women should abandon their ambitions of securing professional jobs, but rather that they should also recognise the financial opportunities that come with their individual talents.

“It’s not the only way to make money, even when that’s what our generation has grown up knowing,” she emphasised.

The beauty queen explained that only a few young people recognise the potential of turning their talents into sustainable sources of income, adding that she hopes to use her platform to create awareness and guide more women and young girls towards financial independence.
