Seasoned Ugandan musician and producer Benon Mugumbya has opened up about his weight loss journey, revealing that he previously used Ozempic to kickstart his transformation before embracing fitness, discipline and a healthier lifestyle.

The Swangz Avenue founder disclosed that he used Ozempic in 2019 while visiting the United States, where he purchased three pens at about $800 each.
“I bought about 3 pens at about $800 each which worked really well for me,” he confessed.
However, he said the results were not a permanent solution. After he stopped using the medication, he experienced weight regain, which he described as his body going back to “its reality.”

He also emphasized that while such weight-loss tools can help kickstart the process, they are not a substitute for making lasting lifestyle changes.
“It’s like a kickstarter for you,” he said, urging people who choose to use weight-loss medication to incorporate exercise and healthy eating into their routines so that fitness eventually becomes part of their lifestyle.
Benon also admitted that maintaining a strict diet has not always been easy for him. In the past, he would sometimes follow his workouts with a glass or two of wine.
“Back then I was more reluctant, after a work out I would stick drink one or two glasses of wine. But now I try to prioritize proteins like chicken, beef, eggs and greens,” he said.
For him, the weight loss journey has ultimately required more than medication. He says hard work, sacrifice and discipline have played a major role in helping him maintain his progress.
