Kampala is gearing up for a major entertainment night as Comedy Store Uganda prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday, October 30.

Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz is expected to headline the celebrations, alongside a star-studded lineup of regional and Ugandan entertainers. However, the possibility of Zari Hassan and Zuchu also attending has added another layer of interest to the highly anticipated event.

Zari, Diamond’s former partner and mother of his two children, and Zuchu, his current partner, have often attracted public attention because of their connection to the Tanzanian singer. Their possible presence at the same event has sparked curiosity about whether the three could meet in Kampala.

Zari and Zuchu’s Connection Through Diamond

Diamond and Zari began their relationship publicly in 2014 and welcomed two children together: Latifah Dangote, popularly known as Tifah, and Prince Nillan. Their relationship ended on Valentine’s Day in 2018, but they have continued to share parental responsibilities.

Diamond has maintained a close connection to Uganda, where his children live with Zari.

Zuchu, a singer signed to Diamond’s WCB Wasafi label, has also spoken about the reality of her partner maintaining a connection with his former partner because they share children.

On October 25, she reportedly told the press: “Two people who have reproduced, there is no way to erase them from each other’s lives. I have accepted it.”

Her remarks have drawn attention to the dynamics of the blended family and the importance of acknowledging the relationship between co-parents.

Comedy Store Celebrates a Decade

The anniversary celebration comes after an earlier event scheduled for June 5 was postponed amid concerns raised over Ebola.

Organiser Alex Muhangi is now preparing for the rescheduled celebration, which will bring together comedians and musicians from across the region.

The lineup features Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz, Rwanda’s The Ben and Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi, alongside Ugandan performers Rema Namakula, Sheebah Karungi, Spice Diana, Fik Fameica, Winnie Nwagi and Lydia Jazmine.

The comedy lineup includes Madrat and Chiko, Maulana and Reign, and Salvador, among others. The event will be hosted by Kalela and Bree, with gates scheduled to open at 2pm.

An exclusive meet-and-greet dinner is also scheduled for Thursday, October 29, at Kampala Marriott Hotel.

Tickets are priced at UGX 30,000 for regular admission and UGX 100,000 for VIP access, while tables are available at prices ranging from UGX 1 million to UGX 3 million.

Will the Three Stars Meet?

With Diamond, Zari and Zuchu all attracting public interest, their possible presence at the anniversary celebration has become one of the event’s talking points.

However, whether all three will attend, and whether they will interact publicly, remains to be seen.

Diamond previously made headlines during a 2022 performance in Kampala when he dedicated Aziz Azion’s song “Nkumira Omukwano” to Zari while on stage.

As Comedy Store marks a decade of entertaining Ugandans, Friday’s celebration promises a major gathering of regional stars, with fans eager to see what unfolds at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
