  • Grace Nakimera has urged music federation leaders to support veteran artists who are no longer actively releasing music.
  • She says the music industry has changed significantly, making it harder for older musicians to access performance opportunities.
  • Nakimera believes songs from her generation still hold value and deserve recognition and support from industry leaders.

Veteran singer Grace Nakimera has appealed to leaders within the music federation to support artists who have spent many years in the industry but are no longer actively releasing music.

Speaking to Sanyuka TV, Nakimera explained that her concerns are centered on veteran musicians who have reached a stage where they want to organize concerts but struggle to find opportunities and support in the current music landscape.

She noted that the music industry has evolved significantly since the time she was at the peak of her career, making it more challenging for artists from her generation to remain visible.

“We have leaders who are in position to support us old artists,” she said.

Nakimera added that the current generation of musicians has transformed the industry and changed many of the norms that existed during her time.

According to her, despite no longer being as active as before, veteran artists still have valuable music that continues to resonate with audiences years after its release.

“There are artists who have made music in the current generation that has changed everything and have broken all the rules,” she said.

She emphasized that songs from her generation have stood the test of time and continue to hold value even after two decades. However, she believes older artists need support and platforms to showcase their talent to today’s audiences.

“It’s now very hard to be on stage because of modern-day artists, and times have changed. We need support from our leaders so we can also shine on stage—we are still of value,” Nakimera said.
