Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Bad Black appears to be reconsidering her recently launched initiative, Beauty Beyond The Scars, after revealing that the project has become financially draining for her.

The initiative was created to encourage and motivate women to believe in themselves while reminding them that their scars and past experiences do not define who they are.

Bad Black recently held the first edition of the initiative at Skyz Hotel in Naguru, an event she says left her with no profits despite the significant amount of money she invested.

According to Bad Black, she spent UGX 3.5 million on the venue, UGX 15 million on decoration and about UGX 20 million on food.

“Even if people say I ate the money, 100 tickets times UGX 50,000 is 5 million, yet I spent much more than that,” she said.

She challenged those questioning how the money was used to look through the archives and assess whether the event actually made her any profit.

Bad Black admitted that while she is proud that the initiative is now on record as something she tried to do for women, the financial burden has made it difficult for her to continue.

“At least it will be on record that I tried to do something for the women, but it is financially draining for me,” she shared.

She also revealed that of all the sponsors she secured for the event, only Kiss Condoms contributed significantly, giving her about UGX 9 million. However, she said the money was eventually spent on the event, including facilitating bloggers who attended.

“I don’t gain anything from it, yet I can actually live without Beauty Beyond The Scars,” Bad Black confessed.

With the initiative proving costly to sustain, Bad Black said she may now redirect her efforts towards supporting people from her village, whom she believes also need her help.
