Gospel musician Gabie Ntaate has come out to address what she described as a deeply personal and painful issue surrounding her faith and her identity as a Seventh-day Adventist.

While at the Gospel VIGA Awards, the singer said she has faced scrutiny and exclusion from some born-again Christians who question whether she is truly born again because of her denomination.

Ntaate said the criticism has been painful, especially because it has come from fellow Christians, but maintained that she knows the Christ she serves and does not feel the need to keep defending her faith.

“One of the things that were, the scrutiny that was coming, she’s not born again. And I know some of you still ask yourselves, is she born again? Is she born again?”

She went on to explain that she stands by the teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, particularly its emphasis on the Bible and the observance of the Sabbath.

Ntaate also defended the church’s position on baptism, saying it should be a personal choice made after someone believes in Jesus Christ.

“I am Seventh-day Adventist for the reason that I keep the Sabbath of the Bible. It was never changed.”

The gospel singer said she does not condemn Christians who worship on Sunday and stressed that she is willing to stand with believers from other denominations as long as they confess Jesus Christ as Lord and God.

She further said the criticism directed at her and her church has only strengthened her resolve.

Ntaate ended her remarks by asking fellow Christians to stop questioning her faith, saying she has no intention of addressing the issue again.
