  • Kapeke says artists who cannot produce hits should not put him in their bracket.
  • He credits his nationwide performances, especially in Karamoja, as proof of his status.
  • Jowy Landa hit back, telling Kapeke to grow up and show results instead of talking.

Ugandan musician Kapeke has taken aim at fellow artists Jowy Landa and Ava Peace, dismissing their concerns about the lack of hit songs in Uganda’s current music scene.

Appearing on Galaxy FM, Kapeke was asked about Jowy Landa’s recent remarks that artists are no longer producing hits that immediately resonate with audiences.

Kapeke responded by arguing that some of the artists making such comments are “small musicians” who lack the music and impact to make such judgments.

“Those who are speaking are small musicians without music. Me, I have the music, and I am a big artist among the new school.”

According to Kapeke, an artist should not be considered “big” simply because they are popular in Kampala. He believes true star power is demonstrated by the ability to attract crowds across the country.

He pointed to his performances outside the capital, particularly in Karamoja, where he claims his music enjoys strong reception.

Kapeke further singled out Vyroota as the only new-school artist he considers a genuine match for him when it comes to performance and regional popularity.

“If I go there, it is only the Kunsi singer whose songs are being played. If Ava Peace and Jowy Landa cannot find hits, that is their problem, not mine. Don’t put me in their bracket.”

Kapeke’s comments, however, did not go unanswered.

Jowy Landa quickly responded on social media, attacking Kapeke personally and telling him to focus on growing his career and producing results rather than talking about other artists.
