Buganda Kingdom’s Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, has backed women who openly say they want financially stable men, arguing that such expectations can motivate young men to work harder and build better lives.

Mayiga made the remarks while speaking to Shalom Kawesi and Frank Ntambi, where he addressed the expectations women have when choosing partners.

According to the Katikkiro, there is nothing wrong with a woman wanting a man who has money, as long as the expectation encourages men to work and become responsible providers.

“It should motivate men to work harder because you cannot get good things without working.”

Mayiga explained that young men should take responsibility for their families and understand that providing a good life for a wife and children requires effort and commitment.

He, however, cautioned women against focusing solely on how much money a man currently has. Instead, he said they should be more concerned about whether the man is hardworking and willing to take the initiative to improve his life.

“The men these ladies should be worried about are those who are lazy and do not take the initiative to work.”

Mayiga questioned why a young man, such as a 23-year-old, would spend an entire day sleeping instead of looking for ways to work or improve himself.

He noted that there are exceptions for people whose professions require them to work at night, such as DJs, who may reasonably sleep during the day. However, he maintained that laziness should be a major concern when choosing a partner.
