Veteran Western Uganda musician Lady Mariam Tindatine has appealed to President Yoweri Museveni to intervene over unpaid performances during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential campaign period.
The singer, popularly known for promoting Runyankore music, raised the concern in a TikTok video, saying several artists who participated in the campaign trail have not received payment for their work.
Lady Mariam said she was among the musicians who performed at numerous campaign events attended by President Museveni, particularly across Western Uganda. She added that beyond performing, she personally invested in producing a campaign song encouraging Ugandans to support the President’s re-election bid.
“It is painful that those who worked and contributed are the ones who have not been paid, while some people who did nothing have already received their money,” Lady Mariam said.

The Tindatine singer revealed that this is not the first time she has experienced such a situation, claiming she previously went unpaid after another presidential campaign engagement. She said she fears the same could happen again and questioned why she has continued to be overlooked despite her contribution.
“My heart breaks because I don’t know what I did wrong to deserve this. I am an artist who has carried the Runyankore language beyond Uganda’s borders, and I believe I deserve recognition,” she added.
Lady Mariam appealed to President Museveni to look into the matter and help resolve the concerns of musicians who supported the campaign activities.
Her remarks come after several musicians who performed during the 2025/2026 presidential campaigns publicly raised similar concerns, saying they are still waiting for payments for their services.
