Sad news has struck Uganda’s digital entertainment scene following the death of popular TikToker Timothy Kayanja, popularly known as Jayden.

News of Jayden’s passing emerged Tuesday morning, September 15, 2026, with fellow TikToker Sheila Price announcing the heartbreaking news to his followers and friends.
Jayden had spent months battling serious health complications linked to sickle cell disease and aplastic anaemia. His condition attracted widespread attention late last year after he appealed to the public for financial assistance to access specialised treatment.
The young content creator was eventually flown to India for treatment after fellow creators, friends and well-wishers rallied behind him and helped raise funds for his medical care. In July, there was a moment of hope when reports indicated that he had successfully undergone a bone marrow procedure and was out of immediate danger.

However, according to his friend and fundraising coordinator Gideon Kwikiriza, Jayden’s health later deteriorated. Kwikiriza said they had continued praying for him after receiving information that his condition had worsened.
The latest news has been particularly painful for those who had followed his health journey and supported his treatment.
Jayden had earlier risen to fame through TikTok, where his humorous observations about everyday Ugandan life and the differences between urban and upcountry lifestyles resonated strongly with audiences. His viral content turned him into a recognisable face among Uganda’s young digital audience.
Interestingly, Jayden had previously been the subject of death rumours online. At the time, the reports were debunked as he continued with treatment and even shared updates from India.
This time, however, news of his death has been confirmed by people close to him, with tributes beginning to emerge across social media.
For many of his followers, Jayden will be remembered not only for the laughter he brought through his content, but also for the courage he showed while publicly documenting one of the most difficult periods of his life.
He was young, talented and still building his place in Uganda’s growing digital entertainment industry.
May his soul rest in peace.
