Pastor Bujingo’s wife, Susan Makula, has responded to the backlash surrounding her recent remarks in which she advised women against crying over men who are still renting.

Her comments sparked mixed reactions, particularly among men, with some criticizing her views on relationships, housing and financial stability.

However, Susan says she is not bothered by the noise, noting that she did not make the remarks specifically to please or help the men who are reacting to them.

According to her, she also started life while renting and understands that not everyone has the means to own a home immediately. She added that she currently has tenants and also has friends who are still renting.

“If you’re a woman getting married to a man who is still renting, work towards leaving that and grow,” she said.

Susan explained that her message is not necessarily about looking down on people who rent, but rather encouraging women to think about their future and actively work towards improving their circumstances.

She also raised concern about what she described as the normalization of single motherhood, saying that some men father children and eventually leave the women to raise them on their own.

“It has become a norm and yet it is so wrong,” she said, adding that she believes many futures belonging to both women and girls have been wasted as a result.

Susan further encouraged women to take responsibility for their own futures instead of relying entirely on their partners to make plans for them.

“No one is going to love your future more than yourself,” she said.

She added that if a woman does not think about her future and make plans for it, she should not expect her man to automatically do so on her behalf.

According to Susan, women should identify what they want for their future and deliberately work towards achieving it, regardless of their current circumstances.
