Tracy Melon has expressed her frustration with people who use artificial intelligence to recreate her songs, arguing that artists put a lot of time, effort and creativity into producing original music.

Speaking about the growing trend of AI-generated versions of songs, Tracy questioned why people would recreate music using AI when artists already have their own creative reasons for going into the studio.

“We put in a lot of effort to make music and they do an AI version of it. We have a reason as to why we hit the studio, otherwise if I didn’t want, I would’ve input lyrics into AI,” she said.

According to Tracy, the issue becomes even more frustrating when an AI-generated version of an artist’s song ends up performing better online than the original.

She noted that artists can wake up to find that a version created using AI has accumulated more views and engagement than the actual song they spent time and resources creating.

“You even wake up and find that the AI version has more views and engagements than the original version, and that doesn’t make business sense for us as artists,” she added.

The artist urged people to take the work of musicians seriously, concluding bluntly: “Be serious.”
