Musician Cindy Sanyu has finally opened up about the misunderstanding that strained her relationship with fellow singer Omega 256 following the success of their hit collaboration, See You Tonight.

The song, released last year, became one of Uganda’s biggest musical successes, earning widespread airplay and winning praise from fans across the country. The chemistry between the two singers was evident, with Omega 256 often speaking publicly about how much she admired and looked up to the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president.
However, behind the scenes, things reportedly took a different turn.
Speaking during an interview on Galaxy FM, Cindy revealed that disagreements began after the song started receiving award nominations and wins. According to Cindy, Omega’s team believed they should receive recognition for awards won by the song, despite Cindy claiming she initiated and financed the entire project.

“The song was mine. I looked for the writer, we recorded it at my studio and they didn’t pay for the production, the writer or the studio. Nothing at all,” Cindy explained.
The singer further revealed that she had chosen to upload the song on Omega 256’s YouTube channel as a gesture of goodwill, a decision she now believes created confusion among fans regarding the song’s ownership.
“Out of my own kindness, I said let’s put it on her page because she needed it more than I did. That’s why many people ended up thinking it was her song,” she said.
Cindy also alleged that disagreements later emerged over digital distribution and revenue sharing. She claimed that although her team had proposed an equal 50-50 split, the song was uploaded before the paperwork was finalized and she was eventually allocated a smaller percentage than initially agreed upon.
The revelations help explain why the pair are no longer seen performing See You Tonight together despite the song’s immense success. For months, fans had wondered why Cindy was absent whenever Omega 256 performed the hit at public events and award ceremonies.
It should be noted that many music fans had long believed See You Tonight belonged to Omega 256, with Cindy merely appearing as a featured artist. Cindy’s latest comments appear aimed at setting the record straight regarding the song’s creation and ownership.
