Veteran radio personality Gaetano Kagwa has opened up about one of the biggest challenges of hosting Capital FM’s popular breakfast show — waking up early every morning.

Speaking candidly, Gaetano admitted that despite spending years on morning radio, he has never truly become a morning person.
“I pretend to be a morning person, but I’m really not. Waking up early every day for work is something I still struggle with,” Gaetano revealed.
The celebrated broadcaster, who co-hosts The Big Breakfast on Capital FM alongside Lucky Mbabazi, said Sunday evenings are often difficult for him because the thought of Monday morning quickly approaching makes him uneasy.

“When Sunday comes and I know Monday is around the corner, I get chills running up my spine. It’s never easy waking up that early,” he said.
However, Gaetano noted that working alongside Lucky Mbabazi makes the experience worthwhile. He praised his longtime co-host, describing her as an energetic and phenomenal colleague whose presence keeps the show enjoyable.
The former Big Brother housemate also reflected on his long journey in radio, revealing that he has been in the industry since 2004. According to Gaetano, he was recruited to Capital FM by veteran media personality Timothy Bukumunhe and arrived with little knowledge about broadcasting.
He credited the station for shaping his career, saying everything he knows about radio was learned at Capital FM over the years.
Gaetano and Lucky Mbabazi have hosted The Big Breakfast together for several years, building a strong on-air chemistry that continues to attract listeners. Their engaging conversations, humor, and natural rapport have helped make the program one of Uganda’s most popular and widely listened-to morning radio shows.
The duo remains among the most recognizable voices on Ugandan radio, keeping audiences entertained and informed every weekday morning.
