Legendary singer Juliana Kanyomozi has revealed that she is open to collaborating with young musicians, provided they have the right song and a genuine musical connection.

Speaking during an interview with Aggie on KFM, Juliana said she is currently at a peaceful and grateful stage in her life and career, a feeling she says is reflected in her latest song, “Omwana Wabandi”.

“I think it’s my new song because honestly, I’m at that point generally in my life where I have found so much peace, and I just feel the need to be thankful for everything that I’ve achieved,” Juliana said when asked which song best describes her life at the moment.

The celebrated vocalist, who has enjoyed a successful music career spanning more than two decades, also addressed the possibility of working with younger artists who admire her work.

While she declined to mention specific names, Juliana made it clear that she is willing to work with anyone as long as the collaboration feels right.

“There’s a couple of them I’d love to work with. With me, I’m open. I can work with just anybody. You just have to have the right song, come at the right time, and as long as we blend, I’m good. I can work with anyone,” she explained.

Juliana also shared her thoughts on today’s music scene, saying she enjoys some of the music being produced by the younger generation despite criticism that modern songs often lack depth.

“I do enjoy a lot of it,” she said, before mentioning rising singer Tracy Melon among some of the artists she has been listening to recently.

Her comments are likely to excite young musicians who have long dreamed of recording alongside one of Uganda’s most respected female artists.
