  • Urges civility in the Eddy Kenzo and Ziza Bafana dispute while backing accountability.

Dancehall singer Vyper Ranking has weighed in on the ongoing controversies surrounding the Uganda National Musicians Federation, offering a candid take on its SACCO structure, industry conflicts, and his own musical journey.

Vyper made it clear that while the idea of a SACCO is not inherently bad, its current structure is problematic and exclusionary. According to him, the financial requirements lock out many struggling musicians who cannot meet the thresholds required to benefit from the scheme.

“The SACCO is not a bad idea, but the way it is structured makes it difficult for many artists, especially those who are not financially stable.”

He pointed out that the requirement to save UGX 5 million in order to access a UGX 10 million loan does not make practical sense for many in the industry. For Vyper, the returns simply do not match his expectations or brand level, which influenced his decision to stay away from the initiative.

“Saving five million to borrow ten million doesn’t add up for me. At my level, that amount is just peanuts and cannot add real value.”

On the ongoing feud between Eddy Kenzo and Ziza Bafana, Vyper chose a diplomatic stance. He suggested that the two artists understand each other better and should resolve their differences amicably. However, he cautioned Bafana to be mindful of his language, noting that while his push for accountability is valid, his approach undermines the message.

Vyper also addressed his recent low profile in the music scene, explaining that he has been earning from past releases rather than actively performing or dropping new content. He hinted at a return with a new song titled Ononzitamu Omuntu, which is set to debut soon.
