Ugandan artist A Pass has opened up about an embarrassing and highly disrespectful incident he experienced early in his music career, revealing that it involved fellow artist Kalifah AgaNaga.

A Pass recalled that the incident happened in 2015 during a show organized by DJ Shiru, where he was performing on stage when Kalifah unexpectedly walked up and took the microphone away from him.

According to A Pass, Kalifah appeared to have been unimpressed by what he was singing and decided to take matters into his own hands.

“It was DJ Shiru’s show back in 2015 when he did that. It was so disrespectful, but I just looked at him as I could’ve physically fought him,” A Pass recalled.

The artist said the situation could easily have escalated into a physical confrontation, especially because he had attended the event with about ten of his friends.

However, A Pass explained that he deliberately chose not to react violently despite feeling disrespected, noting that he understood the consequences that could come with such a confrontation.

He further argued that some of the complaints artists make about having people constantly “on their neck” are sometimes a result of fellow artists becoming overly familiar and disrespectful toward them.

“We would’ve beaten some of them, but we just looked on because some of us have a lot to lose,” he said, adding that getting into a physical fight would ultimately have given him nothing to gain.
