Veteran Ugandan musician Grace Nakimera has responded to media personality and blogger Kasuku after he questioned her claims regarding the circumstances that led to her disappearance from the music scene.

Kasuku recently dismissed suggestions that witchcraft or spiritual attacks played a role in Nakimera’s exit from the entertainment industry. He argued that the singer should instead tell the public “the truth” about what happened during that period of her life.

Nakimera, however, has pushed back against the criticism, urging people not to judge situations they do not fully understand.

Speaking in response, the singer said many people are quick to dismiss the experiences of others despite having no knowledge of what they have gone through.

“You don’t know my experience. You don’t know what I have been through,” Nakimera said, adding that people should refrain from commenting on matters they do not understand.

She noted that some life experiences are beyond human control and that not everything that happens to a person is planned or anticipated.

“Don’t downplay someone’s experience,” she said. “There are people who did everything right, planned well and worked hard, yet things still turned out differently from what they expected.”

Nakimera further stated that many individuals are silently battling difficult situations, emphasizing that people should be more compassionate when discussing the lives of others.

The singer also remarked that there are many people facing even greater challenges than hers, only that their stories are not subjected to public scrutiny because they are not in the limelight.

Grace Nakimera was among Uganda’s most celebrated female artists in the late 2000s and early 2010s, producing a string of popular songs and enjoying immense success. However, at the height of her career, she unexpectedly stepped away from the spotlight, leaving many fans wondering what had happened.

Meanwhile, the singer is preparing for her highly anticipated return to the stage through her upcoming Power of Grace Concert, scheduled to take place in September at Kampala Serena Hotel.
