The Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda Kingdom, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, has expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the people of Tooro Kingdom following the death of their king, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

Mayiga said he was deeply saddened by the news, noting that Buganda and Tooro Kingdoms have historically shared a close relationship and have worked hand in hand on several fronts.

“Tooro and Buganda kingdom have been so close that some of the princes and princesses from Tooro have been raised by the Buganda Kingdom,” Owek. Mayiga said.

He further recalled that when Omukama Oyo was installed as the king of Tooro, the Kabaka of Buganda was selected to serve among his guardians, a decision he said reflected the strong bond between the two kingdoms.

The Katikkiro of Buganda extended his prayers and comfort to the people of Tooro Kingdom, acknowledging the profound loss of a young king in whom the kingdom had placed great hope.

He prayed that God would comfort the people of Tooro during this difficult time and grant the late Omukama Oyo mercy.
