NRG Radio Uganda presenter Evelyn Mic has doubled down on remarks she made about media personality Sheilah Gashumba’s relationship, insisting that she stands by her claims and has evidence to support what she said.

Evelyn recently alleged that Sheilah had broken up with her boyfriend, Alex Bidandi, claims that Sheilah strongly denied. Sheilah reportedly warned that she could have Evelyn fired from her job over what she described as baseless accusations.

However, while addressing the controversy on her show, Evelyn refused to withdraw her statements, saying she is a journalist who speaks the truth.

“I didn’t know I was trending, but my friends are human enough to know I was going through a tough moment because I had lost my sister, so they didn’t show me those things. I’m a journalist and I speak the truth. I stand by what I said,” Evelyn said.

According to Evelyn, Sheilah and Bidandi had indeed separated, but she believes her comments may have prompted the couple to try to repair their relationship.

“They split up and because of me, they are trying to patch up the relationship because I came and talked about it,” she claimed.

Evelyn also stood by her earlier comments about Sheilah’s alleged past relationships with musicians Fik Fameica and Grenade Official, saying she was “100% sure” about the claims.

She explained that she had attempted to apologise to Sheilah and intended to clarify the story on air, but said she was not given the opportunity before the matter spilled onto social media.

“I said sorry to her because I know her and I remember telling her PA that I’m going to do another story the following day to clear up the story, but they didn’t give me the chance to do that. All they did was go on social media and rant,” she said.

Evelyn also questioned Sheilah’s decision to record their private phone conversation, describing it as unprofessional.

“The fact that she recorded our call shows some level of unprofessionalism,” she said, adding that she was not bothered by Sheilah’s response.

Evelyn further claimed that she had proof to back up the allegations she made, saying the information about Sheilah and Bidandi came from people close to the situation.

“I don’t feel bad about what she said because it’s your man who’s going around showing people screenshots of how you’re pleading to get back the relationship. I’m not even bothered,” she said.

Asked whether she was worried that Sheilah could influence her employer to terminate her contract at NRG Radio Uganda, Evelyn issued a direct challenge.

“I dare her,” she said.
