One of Uganda’s celebrated musicians, Grace Nakimera, has opened up about why she has chosen to keep her husband and marriage away from the public eye.

Nakimera, who has been in the music industry for more than a decade, is known to be married, although very little is publicly known about her husband or their relationship.

Speaking during an interview with Spark TV, the singer explained that keeping her husband private is a deliberate decision to protect her personal life and the people she loves.

“If someone can be stolen, then they want to be stolen,” Nakimera said when asked whether she fears another woman could take her husband.

She, however, stressed that her decision has nothing to do with insecurity. Instead, she believes social media can be unnecessarily harsh when it comes to people’s families and loved ones.

Nakimera said she can tolerate criticism directed at her, but she draws the line when attacks are aimed at her family.

“You can insult me as much as you want, but when it comes to my loved ones, I don’t tolerate that,” she said.

The singer added that not everything valuable has to be displayed publicly, maintaining that some precious things are better protected from unnecessary attention.

Nakimera also addressed questions about her music journey, particularly claims that she had permanently switched to gospel music. The Kawonawo singer said she is free to express herself creatively and can release either gospel or secular music depending on her inspiration and the moment.

She noted that even born-again Christians fall in love and experience different aspects of life.

Meanwhile, Nakimera is preparing for an upcoming concert, which has generated excitement among her fans.
