Renowned Ugandan cinematographer and video director Edrine Paul has revealed that before finding his passion in entertainment, he always dreamed of becoming a police officer.

Speaking during a conversation on the Deep Talk show hosted by Roger Otis on Galaxy TV, Edrine explained that his childhood ambition was heavily influenced by his personality and leadership traits.

“Growing up, I wanted to become a police officer but when I joined the entertainment industry—it became so much like possession that I always wanted to do more,” he said.

According to Edrine Paul, the entertainment industry has a way of keeping creatives deeply attached to their craft once they start receiving recognition from audiences.

He explained that this is why many artists continue making music even into their later years because the excitement and fulfillment that comes with entertaining people never fades away.

“Once you join entertainment, you could easily lose focus on other things, and the most interesting trick behind this is that you work while you do the things you enjoy,” he added.

Edrine further noted that his desire to become a police officer stemmed from his natural leadership character and love for being in charge.

“I like to lead people while they’re under my command and control,” he said.

The celebrated director acknowledged that some people often misunderstand his authoritative personality and mistake it for rudeness, yet he insists that is not the case.

Today, instead of enforcing the law with handcuffs, Edrine Paul has built a name for himself behind the camera, capturing memorable visuals for some of Uganda’s biggest music stars.

Over the years, he has worked with artists including Sheebah Karungi, Eddy Kenzo, Kataleya and Kandle, Bobi Wine, and Lydia Jazmine among many others.
