- Sheilah Gashumba and Kisitu Kirabo, she argues, are public figures rather than socialites.
Social media personality and businesswoman Shamim Namuyimbwa, commonly known as Bad Black has claimed that Uganda no longer has real socialites like it did in the past.

Speaking to Galaxy FM, Bad Black shared her opinion on the current crop of public figures, arguing that personalities such as Kisitu Kirabo and Sheilah Gashumba should not be classified as socialites.
She cited Zari Hassan, the Bosslady, as an example of what she considers a true socialite, suggesting that she may be one of the few remaining socialites from Uganda’s earlier era.
“Back then we had Zari, Judith Heard, Bad Black who were real socialites,” she said.

According to Bad Black, being a socialite goes beyond having a large following or gaining attention online. She argued that a genuine socialite should have substantial wealth and a recognizable lifestyle, rather than becoming famous through controversies such as leaked nudes.
She further claimed that Uganda’s current crop consists more of “drunkards” than socialites, criticizing people who consider themselves celebrities simply because they have amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on platforms such as TikTok.
