Nakasongola County Member of Parliament Ivan Kyeyune has assured fans that he will not be leaving the popular comedy and political satire show Zungululu, which airs every Friday on NTV Uganda.

Kyeyune, who recently won the parliamentary seat on the National Unity Platform ticket, said many viewers have been worried that his new political responsibilities would force him to step away from television.
According to the young legislator, several fans reached out through social media platforms, especially X, asking celebrated his Flavia Tumusiime to convince him to stay on the show.

Kyeyune said there is no reason for him to abandon a platform that played a major role in shaping his career and public image. The media personality became a household name after taking over Zungululu from former minister and journalist Agnes Nandutu, who had previously hosted the program in English before he gave it a unique local touch.
“This program made me who I am today. I cannot just wake up and abandon something that has built my name and even put food on my table,” Kyeyune said.
The MP also dismissed suggestions that continuing with comedy television would lower his status as a national leader.
“Just because we joke on television doesn’t mean we are not serious people. It is honest work and I am proud of it,” he added.
Asked how he wants to be remembered as a Member of Parliament, Kyeyune said he hopes to be seen as a servant of the people who stood for truth, accountability, and service delivery.
He noted that public scrutiny, together with the guidance of his party and the expectations of voters, will keep him focused throughout his leadership journey.
