Musician Maro has reflected on his early days in the industry, crediting Bobi Wine for offering valuable financial and career guidance to him and other members of the Firebase Entertainment circle.

Speaking in a recent one-on-one conversation, Maro recalled how Bobi Wine would regularly share advice on money management and earning opportunities with artists around him, including Bucha Man and Nubian Lee.
“He would advise Bucha Man and Nubian Lee on how to make and utilize their money while I was on the side eavesdropping,” he said.
Maro noted that beyond music, Bobi Wine emphasized financial discipline and encouraged his team to be strategic about income streams.

He also mentioned that Bobi Wine often warned artists about certain companies that, in his view, did not fairly compensate performers—especially some breweries and telecommunications brands that would frequently engage musicians without proper payment structures.
The singer also dismissed public claims that Bobi Wine only became financially stable after entering politics, insisting that his wealth was already established long before his political journey.
“He had his money back then even before he knew he’d join politics,” Maro emphasized, adding that he personally witnessed it.
He further encouraged upcoming artists to surround themselves with people who offer knowledge and opportunity rather than only expecting direct financial handouts.
According to him, the most valuable contribution Bobi Wine made to his team was exposure to income-generating pathways.
“He may not have given us cash but he made sure we all had money-making avenues and to me, that’s more important,” he said.
