Mawokota North MP Amelia Kyambadde has publicly hit back at her predecessor, musician-turned-politician Hilary Kiyaga, popularly known as Dr Hilderman, accusing him of repeatedly insulting and abusing her despite having once received her support.

Kyambadde made the remarks during a burial ceremony in Mawokota North, where she took the microphone and addressed what she described as a long-running personal dispute with the former MP.
The legislator said she had remained quiet for some time but had reached a point where she could no longer tolerate what she described as continued attacks from Dr Hilderman.
She reminded mourners that she had supported Kiyaga at a difficult period in his life and urged people to appreciate those who have helped them.

“I helped you when you were very broke and poor. You should appreciate the people who have ever helped you,” Kyambadde said with the Mazongoto singer also in attendance.
Kyambadde also addressed the ongoing legal dispute between the two politicians, telling Dr Hilderman to allow the courts to determine the outcome of his election petition rather than continuing the political confrontation.
Dr Hilderman, who served as the Mawokota North MP before losing the seat to Kyambadde in the January 15, 2026 elections, is challenging her victory in court. The petition, which also names the Electoral Commission, remains active.
Kyambadde said she had been forced to “break character” at the burial because she was tired of remaining silent amid the alleged insults.
