  • He offered to perform for Nandala Mafabi but received no response.
  • His political stance is influenced by both belief and family ties.

Dancehall singer Nutty Neithan has opened up about his political stance, weighing in on Uganda’s increasingly polarized music industry. Over the past few years, artists have openly aligned themselves with political camps, with some backing Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) and his People Power movement, while others have associated with the ruling NRM government.

This growing trend has seen musicians campaign, perform at rallies, and even influence their fan bases on how to vote. Those who choose to stay neutral have often faced criticism from both sides, making it difficult to remain uninvolved.

Speaking during an interview with Shalom Kawesi and Frank Ntambi, Nutty Neithan did not shy away from revealing where he stands. When asked about his political affiliation, he pointed to his blue hair as a symbol of his support for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).

“You can already see it from my hair. Blue is not just a style, it represents where I stand politically,” he said.

The singer went on to explain that he had even offered to perform for FDC presidential candidate Nandala Mafabi during the recently concluded elections, but the opportunity never materialized.

“I was ready to perform for Mafabi, but I didn’t get a clear response from his team,” he added.

Nutty Neithan also reflected on his earlier hit linked to the “walk-to-work” protests, a campaign associated with FDC founder Dr. Kizza Besigye. Despite acknowledging internal challenges within the party, he remains loyal, citing personal connections.

He revealed that his support is partly influenced by family ties, noting that Nandala Mafabi is his uncle. This Yafeesi singer said that it strengthens his commitment to the party regardless of its current state.
