Speaking at a recent function organised by the Patriotic League of Uganda, Among said she is determined to ensure the National Resistance Movement (NRM) achieves its objectives without obstruction.

“When I love, I love without fear… I will continue being there. I will spend whatever it takes to make sure that we get what we want to get,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to the party and its agenda.

Among went further to reflect on the 11th Parliament, asserting that the opposition had little impact.

“For your information, members of Parliament, in the 11th Parliament, I can proudly say we didn’t have opposition… opposition got swallowed,” she stated.

Looking ahead, she warned that the next Parliament would be even more decisive noting that Opposition will be choked out.

“In the 12th Parliament, the opposition is going to be walloped… this is going to be the easiest Parliament,” she added.

The Speaker also addressed criticism about her political background, noting that some had questioned her roots in the ruling party. She dismissed the concerns, saying she is firmly embedded within the NRM.

“They say I came from FDC. But I am now in the party… I am grounded inside. You know how a jigger can enter your foot? I came like a jigger. I am not going anywhere,” Among remarked.

She reaffirmed her loyalty, stating she would readily align with any political direction taken by the leadership, including joining the Patriotic League of Uganda if required.

“If they tell us to shift to PLU, I would run faster than anybody,” she said.

Her remarks come amid heightened political activity ahead of the swearing-in of Members of Parliament next month, as competition for key parliamentary positions intensifies.
