  • Ritah Danchall says she does not currently need a collaboration with Sheebah.
  • She wants to establish herself and build a strong catalogue before working with her boss.
  • Ritah says she and Sheebah share similar values, which helped them develop a close working relationship.

Singer and dancer Ritah Danchall has revealed that she is not currently interested in releasing a collaboration with her boss, Sheebah Karungi, despite the influence and success the Queen Karma has built in Uganda’s music industry.

Ritah, who recently started pursuing music professionally after years of working closely with Sheebah, says she would rather first establish herself and build a strong body of work before seeking a collaboration with the established star.

“Honestly, I don’t need Sheebah’s collaboration at all now. Like, what am I going to use it for? You know Sheebah’s at the top, no denying it, and I’m still coming through. So if I go and ask her for a collabo and she gives it to me and it becomes a hit, then what do I do next? I need to first do a body of work and establish myself. That will come later,” Ritah said.

The comments come amid growing interest in Ritah’s transition into music, with many expecting her close relationship with Sheebah to eventually result in a joint project.

However, Ritah says her admiration for Sheebah goes beyond their professional relationship, explaining that the two share similar personalities and values.

“Yes, I do speak about her with profound respect and love because she deserves it, even if she’s my boss. But I have always respected everyone that I’ve worked with. The thing is, with Sheebah, I found a boss whom I have almost the same character as. For instance, she doesn’t like lies and unscrupulous people, and so do I. So that’s why we easily clicked. For those that want to compete against me, I’m open for the competition,” she added.

Ritah’s approach suggests she wants to build her identity independently rather than rely on her association with one of Uganda’s biggest female stars.

For now, she is focused on developing her own catalogue and establishing herself as an artist before considering a collaboration with Sheebah.
