Ugandan singer Veronica Luggya, popularly known as Vinka, has opened up about her journey from behind-the-scenes talent manager to one of the leading female artists at Swangz Avenue.

Speaking in a recent local interview, Vinka shared that she initially worked as an artist relations manager at Swangz Avenue, handling bookings and coordinating engagements for several artists. Among those she worked with were Irene Ntale, Winnie Nwagi, Zahara Toto, and Aziz Azion.
At the time, Vinka was also a student at Makerere University, where she balanced her studies with work at the label. She recalled occasionally lending her voice to advertisements for extra income, unaware that her talent would soon take center stage.
Her turning point came during a conversation with Swangz Avenue co-founder Julius Kyazze, who mentioned he was searching for a vibrant, energetic female artist. What started as a joke quickly turned into a life-changing opportunity.

“He said they were looking for someone with vibe, and I jokingly told him I could do it. He didn’t take me seriously at first,” Vinka recalled.
“I later went back and asked for an audition. That’s when everything started falling into place,” she added.
Following that moment, Vinka began recording music with top producers, including Yese Oman Rafiki. Her debut single Level was well received, marking the beginning of a successful music career that has spanned nearly a decade.
Now a household name, Vinka is set to hold her long-awaited debut concert this August, a milestone driven by persistent demand from her fans and a testament to her remarkable rise in the industry.
